Environmental Health & Safety Manager:

Position Function and Scope:
Managerial responsibility for the planning and coordination of all Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance activities within the facility as required by Corporate policies and procedures; Federal, State, and Local regulations; and Industry Standards. Work with Corporate/Regional Environmental and Safety Managers to modify corporate policies and procedures for site-specific accuracy and applicability.

The incumbent is responsible for all Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations that apply to the facility and maintaining full compliance. Incumbent manages the activities of other onsite personnel who have environmental, health, and safety responsibilities. Incumbent makes recommended changes to current compliance programs and procedures in order to improve overall conformance with regulatory guidelines and increase employee engagement and adherence to established policies and procedures.

The position will be responsible for coordinating regulatory programs and its permitting applications.

Incumbent will inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment, and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards.

Environmental Responsibilities:
• Responsible for acquiring the requisite knowledge and expertise, to maintain a viable environmental compliance program. Provide training to facility personnel to ensure the facility’s compliance with all applicable regulations. Responsible for conducting regular compliance self-assessments of the facility and take corrective actions for deficiencies as appropriate.
• Responsible for the preparation of all documentation, including environmental reports, plans, permit applications, etc. as required by various regulations, and proper recordkeeping.
• Develop and maintain environmental compliance calendar.
• Communicate actions, deficiencies and objectives to facility management staff and as necessary and to the Environmental Service Department, or the Law Department.
• Review all capital appropriation requests impacting environmental aspects of the facility.
• Responsible for maintaining a functional reporting relationship to Regional and Corporate Environmental Service professionals.
• Ensure that all environmental records and inventories are maintained according to regulatory requirements and Del Monte policy.
• Assist Regional Environmental Managers with technical assistance and environmental audits at other Del Monte facilities.

Health & Safety Responsibilities:
• Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety governmental regulations, OSHA, Cal/OSHA, DOT.
• Provide direction on all OSHA and related regulations as it relates to safety, for interpreting and implementation.
• Develop and audit all regulated safety written policies, ensuring all to be timely.
• Conduct/coordinate all necessary safety training for all required safety related polices and tracking/verifications.
• Manage the training of employees and managers on all safety and emergency action related corporate policies and procedures on a scheduled basis, and keep detailed training records as required by OSHA.
• Manage the coordination of all new hire orientations relative to safety.
• Manage the facilitation of all safety committee activities and meetings to promote and maintain a safe work environment.
• Manage the maintenance of all Workers' Compensation requirements and required medical reports etc. with all parties (Corporate, TPA, etc.)
• Interact with Worker’s Compensation Insurance carriers to ensure proper handling of claims in line with plant objectives.
• Develop programs to reduce injury rates and foster safe working environments.
• Manage the investigation of all incidents / injuries / occupational illnesses to determine root cause, submit detailed reports as required, and ensure all corrective actions are implemented accordingly.
• Manage the inspection of facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and corporate safety programs.
• Manage the ongoing maintenance of the “Job Hazard Analysis” documentation.
• Manage vendor/contractor safety programs to ensure they are in compliance with corporate safety policies while they are onsite.
• Manage facility security programs.

General Responsibilities:
• Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of Del Monte Foods Quality Systems to assure environmental compliance with quality and food safety requirements.
• Quality and Food Safety – Overall responsible for finished product quality, food safety and legality, within functional area. Maintains standards and adjust processes to meet Del Monte standards and customer expectations. Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Del Monte Foods Quality Systems to assure compliance with quality and food safety requirements.

Zoo Ranger closing date 1/26/2022:
General Purpose This position is responsible for providing a visible and positive presence to Zoo guests to promote safety, adherence to zoo rules, and a fun, engaging experience. Essential Functions Walks throughout the assigned area(s) to maintain a visible presence in the Zoo for guests. Greets guests in a friendly, professional manner and demonstrates an approachable, service-focused demeanor. Conduct daily perimeter check of Zoo grounds to ensure there are no breaches to the fence. Provides information to Zoo guests concerning exhibits and services, basic educational details of the animal collection, and other aspects of Zoo operations. Monitors guest activity and addresses violations of Zoo rules in a professional manner. Requests assistance from Safety and Security management for incidents requiring additional attention. Maintains awareness of guest accidents or injuries and provides prompt assistance, including basic first aid as certified, when needed. Alerts Safety and Security management of incidents requiring additional attention or treatment. Responds to emergencies fully equipped with First Aid supplies. Providing calm, professional assistance to guests and staff and facilitating support from Fire and Police personnel. Assists in reuniting lost and found children with parents or guardians. Gathers facts surrounding safety and security occurrences and prepares reports of incidents promptly. Provides crowd control as needed during peak attendance periods and special events. Opens secures and activates all building alarms in accordance with Zoo procedures. Provides escorts and equipment for animal transport, and some zoo deliveries Conducts evening security check of the parking area outside the Zoo perimeter to ensure all cars have exited the park. Once the park is clear, ensure both Olive and Belmont gates are secured. Conduct nightly security checks of Storyland and Playland areas. Make appropriate notifications if discrepancies are observed. Completes other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent GED Minimum one year related experience in a security or customer service environment. Strong verbal English communications skills required both oral and written. Bilingual (Spanish or Hmong) communication skills a plus. Ability to deal calmly and authoritatively with the public and to work under considerable pressure in crowds and with difficult members of the public. Basic Life Support, AED, CPR, First Aid, O2 every 2 years. Valid California driver’s license and a clean driving record, preferred. Ability to work evenings, graves, overnight, weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to register as a proprietary private security officer with the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services within 6 months. (BSIS) Physical Requirements These are physical and mental requirements of the position as it is typically performed. Inability to meet one or more of these physical or mental requirements will not automatically disqualify a candidate or employee from the position. Safety and Security Manager Closing Date 04/04/2022:
The Safety & Security manager develops, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the Zoo's safety and security program to ensure a safe environment for all staff and guests. This position is responsible for the security of facilities, animal collection, and other physical assets in the Zoo. Essential Functions Safety Ensures that all employees are working in a safe manner, with the appropriate protective equipment and in compliance with OSHA, Cal OSHA, and safety policies. Develops and executes a cost-effective Injury and Illness Prevention Program meeting Cal OSHA standards. Develops and executes FCZs ADA transition plan. Evaluates safety programs for effectiveness in reducing workplace risk factors, preventing injuries to employees, and reducing costs to the Zoo resulting from work related accidents. Coordinates the Zoo fire protection plans and ensures that fire-fighting equipment is in good repair by inspecting fire extinguishers monthly and coordinates yearly recertification. Ensures that required inspections are completed and documented for fire and smoke detection equipment and systems throughout the Zoo. Chairs the Fresno Chaffee Zoo Safety Committee, coordinates zone, monthly inspections. Communicates safety information to the appropriate staff and management. Recommends controls, procedures or programs designed to eliminate or minimize potential hazards resulting in unsafe or unhealthy work conditions, practices, or procedures. Ability to motivate, delegate, provide leadership, counseling, conflict resolution training and to successfully implement the health and safety policies and procedures, and recommend corrective actions. Develops and maintains a program for compliance with the California Employee Right to Know Act and the hazardous communication standard. Collaborates with all Zoo staff to maintain a safe, effective, and economical program in the handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals and waste, ensuring that such program meets or exceeds applicable Federal, State, and local regulations. Establishes a program for identifying, inventorying, labeling, and training employees on hazardous substances. Coordinates hazard assessments, including periodic inspections when new, previously unidentified hazards are recognized, when occupational injuries and illnesses occur, whenever workplace conditions warrant, and when new substances, processes, procedures, or equipment are introduced to the workplace. Oversee and coordinates the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Insure first aid kits are maintained to OSHA standards. Develops and implements an ongoing Zoo safety training program to ensure the health and safety of employees and minimize employees compensation risk. Trains Zoo employees on the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Curates specialized education and training materials specific to the needs of the Zoo. Training or knowledge of creating comprehensive workplace health and safety programs, including but not limited to, heavy equipment operation, hazardous material handling program, fall protection, confined space, lock-out tag-out, construction safety, first aid, blood borne pathogens, and Personal Protective Equipment. Coordinates First Aid/CPR/AED training sessions, as a certified trainer. Leads Weapons Teams practice sessions at the local law enforcement shooting range. Coordinates, leads, documents, and debriefs on Zoo-wide drills that meet AZA standards. Coordinates the Zoos weekly Incident command (IC) Roster. Oversees the selection and training of all parties involved in the Incident command system. Coordinates with the safety & security assistant managers the training and recertification of all staff for OSHA, Red Cross, and any other required equipment safety training. Create, implement, and review occupational health and safety plans. Forecasting annual budget for safety programs. Compliance audit & reporting Prepare and maintain required environmental permits and submit associated regulatory reports Maintains records for statistical measurement and conformance to standard practices of the safety industry. Prepares and maintains required safety reports. Reviews and coordinates with Director of Facilities to OSHA inquiries. Audits various safety program elements of effectiveness, schedules and performs safety inspections, and identifies issues and develops corrective action plans. Security Produces and regularly maintains all security department manuals, procedures, and emergency protocols. Maintains comprehensive accurate records on all security related incidents and required security logs. Develops and implements a complete security system to ensure the safety and security of the buildings, grounds, and all assets within the Zoo, including key control and access to Zoo. Oversees all security-related operations and staff. Provides support for any special events at the Zoo, including proper utilization of contracted security personnel when needed for exterior security. Initiates and follows-up on all investigations involving criminal activities (for both employees and guests) on Zoo grounds. Responds to and reports emergency calls or situations, ensuring that immediate action are taken to minimize adverse impact on the Zoo. Establishes and maintains effective liaisons with local law enforcement, fire, and emergency response agencies. Collaborates with other departments in all cases of emergency as requested or required. Investigates all criminal activities, accidents and hazards occurring on site, takes corrective action, and completes documents to satisfy regulatory agency record keeping requirements. Evaluates injury and illness reports for completeness and accuracy. Identifies existing and potential hazards and causal factors and initiates preventative measures to minimize risk to employees/volunteers and associated costs to the Zoo. Manages our lock and key systems for Schlage Primus and Best Lock Systems. This includes preventative maintenance and repair and replacement of locking mechanisms. Forecasting annual budget for security programs. Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements Bachelors degree in Occupational or Public Safety or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Minimum five years experience in a security, public or occupational safety or related field, including at least three years of management and training responsibility. Ability to deal calmly and authoritatively with the public and to work under considerable pressure in crowds and with difficult individuals. Demonstrates a commitment to Zoo's workplace health and safety programs through ownership, leadership behaviors, continuous improvement, and building a connection of understanding, knowledge and trust with Zoo's leadership, staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders. Keep records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions and direct accident investigation procedures. Maintains Injury Log of all work injuries and maintains recordable injuries in compliance with OSHA guidelines within HR and Safety System. Shares information with HR personnel for workers comp claim submissions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite is required. Proficiency with System Galaxy Card Lock and Security Access Systems. Proficiency with KeyWatcher Key Security System. Proficiency with FLIR Camera and Video System. Valid California drivers license and a clean driving record. Excellent written and verbal English communications skills required. Bilingual (Spanish or Hmong) communication skills a plus. Ability to work evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
